Hello and welcome back to the Blackpool Pubcast. I'm your host David. We are now past the introductory
episode and on to episode two. It has taken me a long time to get here but I'm glad I
persevered. In this episode I'll be talking about some of the upcoming events here in Blackpool.
I'll also be talking about some charitable organisations which I try to support when I can.
The first of the events I want to let you know about is the Coastal Radio Local Hero
Awards 2025. Nominations are now open. If there's someone you would like to nominate
for an award, someone who you feel has made a difference, then you can vote for them.
Nominations can be made on Coastal Radio's website at coastalradiodab.co.uk/awards.
Also coming up we have the World Fireworks Championship Blackpool. This takes place on
three weekends, two in September and one in October. The first contender is the winner
of the 2023 competition. It is Amir Morani, sorry if I mispronounced the name, representing
India. This display takes place on Saturday the 13th of September 2025. The second contender
is Dance of Fire, the Ukrainian entry and winner of the 2019 competition. This display
will take place on Saturday 27th September 2025.
The third and final entry is Orion, representing Canada. Canada won the 2015 competition. Their
display will take place on Saturday 11th October 2025. All displays are subject to weather
conditions being suitable. There is always a great turnout so you'd be well
advised to get there early to get a good spot. Build up in each night starts at
7.30 with the fireworks starting at approximately 8.30. I've been to nearly
every display since I moved here and it has always been incredible. Next up it
has come to my attention because I saw it on Facebook there's an event happening in
support of counseling in the community. It is the Shine Bright Charity Award
This is taking place on Friday the 28th of November 2025 in the Blackpool Tower Ballroom
from 7pm until 2am.
You can get tickets for this event through Ticket Taylor.
I will leave the link in the show notes along with the link to counselling in the community's
website.
Book your tickets early to avoid disappointment.
This is a very popular event and the tickets always sell really fast.
In every project I have done, I have always tried to show support for Counselling in the
Community.
It is an incredible charity which relies on donations and fundraising events.
They do an amazing job helping people who suffer from mental health problems by providing
counselling services on a self-referral basis.
Mental health problems are rife right now.
If you are struggling, please seek help.
Too many people suffer in silence, often because they feel there is no help available or because
they don't want to be a burden. Please try to remember there is help out there and you
are not a burden. Finally, whilst we are on the subject of charity,
I want to give a shout out to the Community Shop (Blackpool). This month they are raising
funds for the Fylde Memorial Arboretum, which is a beautiful, peaceful area of remembrance
which is located on Moore Park in Bispham. This is a very worthy cause and I can totally
understand why the community shop have chosen to fund raise for it. You can find the Community
Shop's group on Facebook. Join it to be kept up to date with what they're up to and what
bargains they have in store. The shop is located at 60 Talbot Road, Blackpool. Pop by and see
what goodies they have for you to buy. You'll get a bargain and the money goes to a good
cause. It's a win-win.
